Welcome
to the Village Dancers web site!
The
pioneer spirit lives on as the Village
Cloggers and Folk Dancers perform at many historic sites and events
across the Midwest. For the past fifteen years our Dance Troupe, dressed
in historic clothing, has been performing pioneer dances of the mid
1800's.
This includes Clog Dancing that was brought from Scotland into the Tennessee
and Kentucky regions by coal miners. Clogging is a lively form of dance
that reminds one of the Irish jig, Scottish highland fling and
plantation dances.
We are very fortunate to have the Missouri
Town Band provide the heritage music for our
performances. Our Dancers are members of the Friends of Missouri Town 1855 Living
History Museum in Lee's Summit, Missouri.
The Missouri Town 1855 Band
has entertained guests and played for dancers the last 25 years at
this Living History Museum.
